I am Angela, and I have dedicated nearly 40 years to the NHS, serving in various capacities such as intensive care, advanced district nursing, and as a nurse practitioner, where I have encountered and managed numerous life experiences, traumas, and stressful situations, including end-of-life care. My interest in hypnotherapy was sparked after studying Solution Focused Brief Therapy at university, which I applied in both my personal and professional life to develop tools for finding solutions. I pursued hypnotherapy studies at the UK Academy of Hypnotherapy Scotland, earning a Hypnotherapy Practitioner Diploma (HPD) and a Diploma in Clinical and Advanced Hypnosis (Dip CAH). I am also a Neurolinguistic Programming Practitioner (PNLP) and have been trained in a variety of skills and techniques, including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Ericksonian, and Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). With extensive experience in healthcare, I recognise that health encompasses physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, and social aspects. I was drawn to working with individuals through hypnotherapy, using the subconscious mind to help them overcome fears, reduce anxieties, and achieve personal goals and holistic wellbeing. As a clinical hypnotherapist and Neurolinguistic therapist in the Aberdeen/Aberdeenshire area, I offer holistic, personalised hypnotherapy sessions tailored to meet individual needs in a safe, comfortable, and relaxing environment. I am registered with the National Council of Hypnotherapy, a professional governing body, and the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CHNC), ensuring I adhere to high standards of professional practice and ethics. My goal is to assist clients in achieving positive transformations and goals through specific hypnosis techniques and to teach them self-hypnosis tools to empower and support them in navigating everyday life and overcoming challenges. I firmly believe that hypnosis is a powerful tool for promoting change and can significantly enhance wellbeing in daily life.
From a personal perspective, I am a caring, empathetic and trusting individual who would like to support people on their journey in order to make a transformative, positive change in their lives and achieve their goals without judgement to live the best life that they can. I am a certified grief educator after training with David Kessler (grief.com) and support parents in a group charity who have lost a child/children as I have. I am very grounded and believe wholeheartedly in the power of hypnotherapy to help individuals transform their own lives.
What is hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a safe practice. During hypnosis, you remain conscious but enter a trance-like state, similar to daydreaming or the moments between sleep and wakefulness. Unlike stage hypnosis, you retain control and awareness of what is being said, and you will remember most of the session. I will guide you into trance like state of relaxation before using a combination of hypnotic suggestions and Neurolinguistic Therapy to facilitate changes within the subconscious mind. Throughout the session, you are in a safe and relaxed environment, maintaining consciousness and safety at all times. My aim is to help you achieve positive goals and transformation with tailored specific hypnosis and teach them tools such as self- hypnosis to empower them and support.
Understanding the Mind
Every person has a conscious mind, which is actively involved in daily decision-making and processing. Additionally, we all have a subconscious mind that stores various data from our lives, including memories, traumas, and forgotten events. Imagine an iceberg: the part above the water represents your conscious mind, while the larger, unseen portion below the water symbolizes your subconscious mind.
How does hypnosis work?
Hypnosis is a therapeutic technique to access the subconscious mind, enabling positive changes. In this process, we work together to achieve the desired outcomes. For example, if you want to change a habit and are committed to the change, I will support you by working with your subconscious mind to break the habit.
What is Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP)
NLP explores how we think and behave, helping us understand our behaviours and view of the world. NLP techniques can be taught to you to help you control, for example, anxiety or fear of flying. By combining NLP with hypnotherapy, we can change unhelpful thoughts and behaviour patterns to support self-awareness and the achievement of goals.
Getting Started
To begin your hypnotherapy journey, we will first conduct a comprehensive history intake to understand the factors that have led you to seek hypnotherapy by taking a detailed history. By taking a detailed history the therapist can understand the client’s needs and tailor planned hypnosis to help the client achieve a positive hypnotherapy outcome. Rest assured that all data and records are maintained with the highest standards of security and confidentiality. Professional hypnotherapists are regulated by the National Hypnotherapy Council, ensuring you receive the highest quality of care.
What to Expect
During the consultation, the hypnotherapist will address any questions or concerns you may have, helping to put your mind at ease. Together, you and the therapist will establish realistic goals and conduct a thorough assessment of your needs. The initial session lasts approximately 90 minutes with 30 minutes of free consultation time, with subsequent sessions lasting 60 minutes each. You will have time and opportunity to discuss any concerns, ask questions and put your mind at ease re any concerns you may have before hypnosis. By setting realistic goals for therapy and there are a few forms to discuss consent, motivation, anxiety and mood. This can take some time and towards the end of the first session we will do an introductory relaxing hypnosis. The hypnotherapist will support you into a comfortable relaxed state to relieve any concerns about the process of hypnosis.Subsequent Sessions
Subsequent sessions will be tailored to your needs and most of this session will be hypnotherapy followed by a short discussion of experience and any future progression of needs. The hypnotherapist may use a combination of hypnotic suggestions and Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) to effect change.

Payment is required at time of booking.
If you are late in arriving, I may only be able to see you for the duration of your allocated appointment time. In agreeing to a hypnotherapy appointment you are committing to our terms and conditions.
Commitment
Hypnotherapy is a collaborative therapy and you must commit to an agreed course of therapy that will be tailored to your needs. Ensuring commitment to scheduled appointment time is also key in the process as appointment cannot run into next clients scheduled time. If you need to change or cancel your appointment a minimum of 24 hours notice is required. If cancelled at short notice sadly 50% of the fee is payable. If you do not show up for a scheduled appointment on the day the full fee must be paid. Cancellations can be made by calling 07383 883 561.

Stress and Anxiety Management
We all experience anxiety from time to time however long term stress and feeling anxious can impact on work, social events, relationships and health.
Physical signs of anxiety may present as experiencing;
- Dry mouth
- Palpitations/increased heart rate
- Headaches
- Frequency of going to toilet/gastric upset
- Feeling sick/nausea
- Perspiration or breathing fast/shallow
- Feel wound up with heightened alertness/panic
- Difficulty sleeping or going to sleep
- Conscious of making a mistake
Hypnotherapy can help with anxiety.
The hypnotherapist will initially take an in-depth history to explore root cause of anxiety and work with you and your subconscious mind to replace the feelings of anxiety to those of feeling confident and relaxed. The therapist may can use NLP techniques, Cognitive Behaviour Techniques (CBT) discuss ways of coping with anxiety and teach the individual self -hypnosis techniques to use to allow individuals to take control of anxious feelings and situations using breathing techniques, coping mechanisms such as removal from situations to breath and become calm, confident and relaxed thus giving them tools to help them develop confidence, build self esteem and make positive changes. This make take a few sessions depending on the degree and impact of anxiety, but hypnotherapy can change negative to positive outcomes in day-to-day life. This may require approx. 3 sessions. Each session is £60.

Weight Management
Hypnotherapy can help achieve successful weight loss by exploring and transforming underlying habits related to diet, exercise and attitude. This is challenging for most people and from a personal perspective I was diagnosed with type2 diabetes and became motivated to lose weight and used hypnotherapy to do this successfully and have reduced my blood sugar significantly to the point where it is almost at normal level. 3 stone down - The journey continues… Weight loss is a holistic journey encompassing not just the way you eat but explores habits such as comfort eating and your relationship and mood, emotions and trauma. With hypnotherapy motivation and support on this journey it is possible to transform not only your body but your mindset and motivation to achieve your weight goals. Hypnotherapy for weight management can take up to 5+ sessions. Together we will initially do an in depth consultation to set positive goals and tailor a plan for your specific goals, needs and weight loss journey. This will also involve keeping a food diary and challenges you encounter we can then work together to help you achieve your weight goals. An MP3 audio recording will be given to you to work with between sessions. Initial 90 minute (30 mins free) session is £60 and further sessions £60 per session.

This is a tailored therapy weight loss programme using a non-surgical gastric band hypnotherapy system. This is usually done over 4-5 sessions (2 may be combined) by a licenced practitioner. Developed by John Mcclean as an integrated system encompassing holistic integrated system for clients with a high Body Mass Index (BMI which is greater than 30). The development of the gastric Hypno-band to help clients achieve continual and sustainable positive weight loss using a non-invasive technique unlike a surgical gastroband involving various techniques such as cognitive behaviour with hypnotherapy. The theory of stages of Hypno-band gastric band fitting is one of suggestion and visualisation so that the subconscious mind will suggest your stomach has become smaller and requires less food thus leading to weight loss journey and reduction in BMI. If you are committed your journey has already begun and you will be given MP3 recordings the support of hypnotherapy to help you change your lifestyle and eating habits for yourself and achieving your weight loss goals. Cost of Hypno-band course is £400 and can be paid in instalments. Hypno-band therapy has a high success rate and changes mindset to maintain weight after loss.

Cessation of Smoking and Vaping
Smoking may be related to routines and habits and cravings. It can impact on our health and medical research shows it in increases the risk of heart disease, stroke and cancer. Interestingly we don’t smoke when we sleep. By addressing some of the subconscious routines, habits and craving for nicotine using hypnotherapy and positive suggestion and commitment to change habits you can successfully live a healthier lifestyle.

Evidence and statistics support a success in cessation of smoking. Initial session is 90 minutes as a first session where a detailed consultation of your smoking history and habits to explore your motivation to stopping and habits/routines. Hypnosis used with NLP techniques will be used to help you change your subconscious mind and change your habit of smoking. You will be given an MP3 audio recording to use and a free follow up appointment if required however if you are truly motivated together, we can stop you smoking and achieve your goal. The destination will be worth the journey and the air is fresh and clear.

Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
IBS is a gastrointestinal disorder affecting the large intestine, it affects many people and symptoms can include abdominal discomfort including bloating and pain. Can vary between constipation and loose stools which can vary in bowel habits. It can flare up at times and can impact on everyday life. Often when diagnosed with IBS it is often treated with diet and medication. It and can be embarrassing and individuals may experience anxiety re going out for toilet access, reduced health related quality of life. Hypnotherapy does not replace medical management of someone diagnosed with IBS but helps support the gut-brain axis and psychological distress associated with IBS. Research has shown that IBS can be associated with the disorder of the gut -brain interaction with evidence to support individualised hypnotherapy 1:1 to support.

Phobias
Simple Phobias
Phobias or fear of something can become overwhelming and impact on everyday life to the point when an individual may begin to avoid the things they are afraid of and when the object of their fear impacts on their life leading to avoidance and increased anxiety and how they react may lead to a panic attack or avoidance. They are a form of anxiety disorder and many of us experience different phobias.
Common phobias:
- Fear of insects some specific like spiders
- Fear of flying
- Heights
- Fear of visiting the dentist
- There are many more.
Hypnotherapy can help.
Using hypnotherapy initially identify phobia. Combining techniques of hypnotherapy, NLP, CBT, breathing exercises and teaching self-hypnosis offer clients tools to cope and relax to overcome their fears and empower them this usually takes 2-3 sessions.
Complex phobias
More complex phobias can be isolating and disabling. An example of this may be the individual who may not wish to leave their home or even stepping outside the home this is known as agoraphobia

Performance enhancement is aimed at supporting individuals confidence and belief in their own talent to enable them to be the best version of themselves in situations to maximise focus and concentration by supporting the mindset to be positive in achieving their relevant goal by enhancing the mental approach in various disciplines and events such as :

Grief
In life loosing loved ones and death are part of life journey and sadly something we will all experience within our lives, and it impacts on everything including our health -the expression broken heart is an accurate description. Contrary to time heals saying research and experience of many supports theory that grief stays with us however we learn to carry it in our hearts differently. It must be witnessed and covid changed a lot of normal support within communities. Grief and love are intertwined and the pain is the reflection of love. Grief can also be experienced with the loss of health, a job, partner, loved ones, miscarriage, a pet or home. Death of a child goes against the nature of life as we expect to lose our parents but not to survive our children. Hypnotherapy cannot sadly take away grief as humans we must all go through this process and counselling may help however hypnotherapy may support individuals on this journey carry it differently. It may help Individuals experiencing grief symptoms such as
